DEKALOG 4 The Decalogue

In the fourth film of the series, Kieslowski examines the sexual taboos underlying the Fourth Commandment, “Honor thy Mother and Father.” While her father is away on business, a young woman named Anka (Adrianna Biedrzynska) discovers an unopened letter from her mother who died in childbirth. What Anka reads threatens to unlock the long suppressed erotic currents between herself and the father who raised her alone. The letter causes her to question the innocence of their close emotional and physical ties and changes their relationship forever. (55 min.)
