DEKALOG 9 The Decalogue

Kieslowski makes full use of melodrama here to demonstrate why one should not covet thy neighbor’s wife. Roman (Piotr Machalica) and Hanka (Ewa Blaszczyk) are welleducated and sophisticated professionals, but Roman has been devastated by the realization that he is impotent. He begins spying on his wife and becomes convinced that she is having an adulterous affair. She insists she is loyal, but he discovers her affaira purely physical relationship. The suspenseful plot thickens as Roman’s jealousy reaches the boiling point. (55 min.)
