TOTALLY F***ED UP U.S. Independents - Fiction

Totally F***ed Up is acclaimed L.A. filmmaker Gregg Araki’s ( The Living End) most mature film to date. Araki goes further out into the margins to explore gay and lesbian youth, and becomes one of the few to treat this invisible population with sensitivity, affection, and respect while tackling issues of alienation, sexuality, homophobia, gaybashing, and suicide. The film focuses on a core cast of six multicultural gay adolescents and the complex tapestry that their sexual and romantic lives weave. With a narrative of 15 random celluloid fragments, direct-to-camera address, the incorporation of both film and video footage, and an unabashed homage to Masculin/Feminin, Araki calls this his most “Godard-damaged” film. Totally F***ed Up is told with ·truth and humor and offers no easy solutions.-Kimberly Yutani, Film Forum
