A KISS TO THIS LAND (UN BESO A ESTA TIERRA) A Tribute to Contemporary Mexican Cinema

This wonderful film, the only documentary in this section, follows the lives of seven Jews who
emigrated to Mexico from Europe and the Middle East in the first two decades of this century.
Narrated by these individuals from the perspective of their old age, the film follows their trials
and tribulations as each tries to find a way to survive, settle and succeed in their new land; to
understand and find their place in a plural yet segregated society; to find love, raise a family and
pursue the universal desire-happiness. The poignant, vivid description of the lite of these
people at different stages not only gives us an insight to the variety of cultures that has created
today’s modern Mexico, but is a marvelous, touching portrayal of the human experience.
