FITZPATRICK TRAVELTALKS American Cinema

In the 1930’s, millions of depression era theatergoers were transported to distant, exotic locations
by means of these 35mm shorts, among the earliest examples of three strip Technicolor. Included
with features, newsreels and cartoons, these ten minute films were a relaxing escape to far off lands
of intriguing beauty and remarkable cultures: Rio de Janeiro, City of Splendor (1936), India on
Parade (1937), Honolulu-Paradise of the Pacific (1935), Rural Mexico (1935), Picturesque
South Africa (1937), Cairo-City of Contrast (1938), Switzerland-The Beauttful (1934), Czechoslovakia
on Parade (1938), Hong Kong, Hub of the Orient (1937). T his is a r9re opportunity to view these
beautifully preserved historical documents as they were originally presented, a rose colored look
at a world as it can never be again.
