Beautifully crafted and epic in scale, this moving film depicts the life of World War I Welsh poet
Hedd Wyn, whose passionate ambition to win his country’s prime literary honor was the
driving force in his life. The handsome, romantic son of a farmer is posted to war torn France,
where he finally finishes his epic poem “Yr Arwr (The Hero)” which he submits to the 1917
Eisteddfod competition. In an ironic twist of fate, the poem is unanimously declared the winner
shortly after he is ki I led in battle.
