THE EMIGRANT (AL MOHAGER) International Cinema

The Old Testament tale of Joseph and his brothers is retold from an Egyptian point of view. Three
thousand years ago, when Pharaonic Egypt was the center of civilization, the favorite son of a
shepherd and scapegoat of his brothers dreams of a better life. Delivered to Egypt by means of a
violent accident, he suffers the solitude of a stranger in a strange land. He falls in love with the sad,
beautiful wife of the man who has taken him in and adopted him like a son, gets caught up in the
quarrel between the Sun King and a rival clan, and must create his own personal, moral vision.
