A middle class couple disregards the romantic yearnings of their young daughter Alejandra and promises her hand in marriage to Alfonso, who is many years her senior but economically well-off. To celebrate the event in style, the bride’s parents spend over their means on an extravagant wedding banquet to entertain the guests. All goes well until it is discovered that the mon?y to pay the musicians has been stolen. What seems merely a financial mishap leads to distrastrous consequences as the bride’s family soon realizes that they have been betrayed.
