COSY DENS (PELÍSKY) Official Selection

Living in the same two-story villa in 1967 Prague, Mr. Sebek and Mr. Kraus claim opposite sides of the political fence. Mr. Sebek, a straightforward army officer, has a teenage son and supports the socialist establishment. Mr. Kraus is a former resistance fighter, a staunch anticommunist, and the father of a teenage daughter. Even at Christmas time tensions mount as each man tries to run a household in accordance with his political beliefs, while their wary, loving wives attempt to curb any consequential conflict . Still, the children of these rivals remain free of ideological hangups and share a common fascination with rebellious, capitalist ‘flower children’ . In the midst of first loves, teenage rebellion and family traumas, this provocative story leads inevitably toward the fateful events of the 1968 Soviet occupation which will bring some individuals together, send some further away and change all of their lives forever.

Winner of the prestigious Fipresci Award, COSY DENS created a sensation at this year’s Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
