HAVANNA Ml AMOR is a journey into the love lives of seven Cubans whose relationships echo the ever-popular telenovela, but in far more exciting and realistic ways.

Interspersed with footage of avid telenovela viewers watching their favorite program, this documentary explores their contrasting and intertwining lives. We meet Silai, the manager of a hair salon and Jose, a TV repairman, who is often consoled by Silai when his wife leaves him after 14 years. Then there is Gladys, a young, beautiful tobacco worker, who gains emotional strength in knowing she does not need an abusive man in her life, while Joana struggles to hold on to her husband who has been having an open affair for the last eight years.

This subtle documentary gives us a glimpse into the private lives of these colorful people and the parallel stories of the T V soaps.
