Following the lives of four Lakota Indian families on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, HOMELAND offers a fresh change of pace to the usual stories of despair on “The Rez.”

An intimate and charming portrait of Indian life evolves as we follow the lives of a spiritual leader, a grandmother, an activist and an artist. Although we see the often-grim realities of their lives, this documentary ultimately offers the significant notion that Native Americans do indeed strive for a better future through hope, inspiration and tradition.

Through an awe-inspiring backdrop of cultural and spiritual tradition, HOMELAND successfully breaks the negative stereotypes of Native Americans to reveal what is more common-strong family loyalty and a critical sense of humor.
