STREET LOVE Documentary Competition

Daring and highly dramatic in both form and subject, STREET LOVE combines elements of both traditional narrative filmmaking and documentary to tell the story of a remarkable Mexico City prostitute.

As she explains in a series of interviews in her home, Rosa was kidnapped as a child and forced into prostitution by several corrupt police officers. Bearing eight sons while supporting her siblings, Rosa continued to work as a prostitute after she escaped her captors. Outraged by all she had seen and endured, Rosa ultimately became an advocate for prostitutes’ rights and a maternal figure for other girls on the street.

Combining shocking reenactments with often emotionally charged interviews, STREET LOVE is a powerful look into the dark world of Mexico’s streetwalkers.
