KRAMPACK European Film Showcase

Cesc Gay’s second feature is a daring, fresh and candid exploration of sexuality and youth.

With their parents away for the summer and their only warning not to over-water the marijuana plants, 16-year-old friends Dani and Nico ore left alone to their sexploits. “Krampack” is slang for masturbation, and the boys waste no time jumping into a nightly ritual of self-gratification. They soon meet Elena and Berto and begin wooing the girls in a quest to lose their virginity. The story takes on unexpected turn, however, as it becomes apparent that Dani is falling in love not with one of the free-spirited girls, but with Nico.

Resisting the usual teenage angst, this engaging and sensitive coming-of-age tale refreshingly presents homosexuality as port of the natural adjustment to finding out who you ore, while dealing with how sexual differences complicate the bonds of friendship.
