MAZE New Directions From American Independents

Actor Rob Morrow makes a remarkable directorial feature debut with this alternately subtle and painfully realistic love story, in which he stars as Lyle Maze, a sensitive and charming sculptor afflicted with Tourette Syndrome.

Isolated by his own fear and other people’s misconceptions about his condition, Lyle has resigned himself to never finding true love and is comfortable only in the company of his best friend Mike (Craig Sheffer) or Mike’s girlfriend Callie (Laura Linney). Mike and Callie’s relationship falls apart when he-unawqre that she is pregnant- accepts an emergency relief assignment in Africa. As Callie turns to Lyle for support, their friendship grows into a gentle romance. But then Mike returns home….

Morrow’s stunning performance is complemented by innovative cinematography, which gives us eerie glimpses of the world as viewed by someone with Tourettes.
