THE WEDDING BANQUET (HSI YEN) Ang Lee Retrospective

THE WEDDING BANQUET is the second film in Ang Lee’s “Father’s Knows Best” trilogy {and the second to be shot in New York). A young man from Taiwan and his American lover are happily sharing their lives together. Unfortunately, his parents have no idea that he is gay. This wonderful comedy explores the complications as dutiful son Wai-Tung attempts to stage a fake wedding to please his parents.

THE WEDDING BANQUET was nominated for a Best Foreign Film Academy Award® and won the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival and the Best Foreign Film at the Golden Globes.
