FIGHT TO THE MAX Documentary Competition

From Simeon Soffer (director of the Academy
® Award -nominated documentary THE WILDEST
SHOW IN THE SOUTH), comes his latest prison
activity spotlight, FIGHT TO THE MAX.
This engaging and stylish documentary captures the
trials and tribulations of incarcerated boxers who
fight for pride and redemption in one of the country’s
harshest penal systems. The film follows boxers
from four different prisons as they train in preparation
for the Louisiana Department of Corrections
Boxing Championships-an all-out war between the
toughest prisoners in the south.
Scored with music performed by the inmates themselves,
FIGHT TO THE MAX is an amazing follow-up
to Soffer’s short subject documentary. Coupled with
beautiful cinematography and lovely transitions, the
film’s message is both thought-provoking and spiritually
uplifting. -Julianna Brannum
