VIOLET PERFUME, NOBODY HEARS YOU (PERFUME DE VIOLETAS) Latin Cinema Series

Tackling the growing problem of sexual assault in Mexico City, VIOLET PERFUME, NOBODY HEARS YOU fictionalizes the true story of a friendship between two girls torn apart when one of them is attacked.

Tomboy Yessica, frequently in trouble, strikes up an unlikely friendship with the innocent, beautiful Myriam, who smells of violet perfume. Yessica’s mother has recently married a bully with a horrid son, Jorge. Jorge helps a man he works with trap his stepsister, Yessica. Terrified and ashamed of the attack, Yessica keeps silent. She seeks comfort in her friendship with the sweet Myriam. Tragedy unfolds as Yessica begins to get Myriam in trouble. Myriam’s mother, blinded to the truth, tries to keep them apart.

Aided by the hauntingly innocent acting of Ximena Ayala and Nancy Gutierrez, as well as the insightful screenplay, director Sistach has created a poignant film not to be missed.
