SOLITUDE American Directions

Louis and Hilary are as far from average as any middle-class Phoenix siblings can get. Louis is brilliant but suicidal. Hilary is seductive but falling apart. The “fun and games” escalate when Hilary tips the delicate balance of their relationship by arriving home with a new girlfriend. With an unwitting guest in their apartment, Louis and Hilary slide between the vulgar and the poetic as they badger, berate and bewitch each other. Louis has something Hilary desperately needs, and Hilary has something Louis will die without.

The latest feature to come out of the grassroots filmmaking collective, Filmmakers Alliance, SOLITUDE shines an unyielding light into the darkest corners of the siblings’ relationship, revealing the raw and unguarded desperation and dependence that have torn Hilary and Louis apart while binding them inexorably together.
