OKAY International Feature Competition

It’s not easy being the only person who can keep it together when everything falls apart.

Nete has always seen herself as the responsible one in her family. But after years of stress and worry, her concern for everyone is veering dangerously close to contempt. In her cramped apartment, she casually belittles her husband and stifles her teenage daughter’s growing sense of independence. When her estranged father is diagnosed with terminal leukemia, Nete insists he come live with her-a move that will transform already tense family dynamics into familial dynamite.

Using humor lo defuse melodramatic overtones, helmer Jesper W. Nielsen displays a genuine affection for his characters, even when they’re at their worst. Aided by Kim Fupz Aakeson’s sharp script and impressive performances from the ensemble cast, Nielsen gives us an insightful look at a family drifting apart just when they need each other the most.
