As American Cruise missiles begin raining down upon Taliban targets, their impact is felt far beyond Afghanistan’s borders. Throughout he world, people notice subtle shifts in their daily lives.
In Pakistan, a billboard painter for a local movie theater worries that attendance will drop because everyone is watching television. In the Amazon, two prospectors enjoy a jump in the value of gold, meaning they can eat chicken daily, instead of just once a week. In France, Egypt, China, Brazil and beyond, similar stories unfold in Heiner Stadler’s idiosyncratic film of private lives, viewed from a global perspective. Reassembling documentary footage shot over the past 10 years, journalist-turned-filmmaker Stadler creates his fiction out of fact, in the process revealing a truth that will never be reported on the nightly news.
EAT, SLEEP, NO WOMEN illuminates the fact that, as the world shrinks, no one-socially, economically, politically, emotionally- can escape the effects of war.
