GRILL POINT (HALBE TREPPE) Made in Germany

With wry realism, playful humor. and incredible performances from the four principal cast members, GRILL POINT was the winner of the Grand Jury Prize at this year’s Berlin Film Festival.

In the unexciting town of Frankfurt/Oder, two married couples have settled into very unexciting lives. Chris works as a radio announcer, while his wife Katrin runs a booth at a truck stop. Uwe spends his waking hours working at his snack bar, while his wife Ellen stands behind a perfume counter. A chance meeting between Chris and Ellen quickly leads them into a love affair. But, since the couples are close friends, it’s impossible to keep the tryst a secret for very long.

Andreas Dresen’s masterful direction infuses seemingly ordinary events with a sense of compounding urgency, offering up a keenly funny and achingly sad examination of the truly important moments in our lives.
