TATTOO Made in Germany

TATTOOis a rich, suspenseful murder mystery that slithers from the trendy German rave scene into more ominous territory. With cinematic fervor, the film combines mesmerizing and unflinching imagery with all-too-human characters to tell a gripping psychological drama.

After graduating from the police academy, Marc Schrader’s (August Diehl) hopes of securing a cushy desk job are dashed when he’s forced to join the homicide squad. His new partner is grizzled Chief Inspector Minks (Christian Redl) who plans to use the young rookie as a passport into the questionable underground youth culture. There, the two unlikely comrades pick up the trail of a supposed serial killer. While on the hunt, Schrader and Minks stumble upon a gruesome and secretive world, where tattoos are more than mere body decoration. They’re an art form that true collectors will go to violent extremes to make their own.

The film has a compelling style, pulsating with a unique, dark European energy. Never settling for the easy cliches of the genre, TATTOO is a masterfully crafted thriller.
