ALFIE Michael Caine Retrospective

Perhaps one of Caine’s most memorable performances, this grim comedy was nominated for an Academy Award™ and centers around the self-involved, rakish cockney wastrel Alfie, who moves between women with scant emotional maturity.

Alfie maneuvers from conquest to conquest, all the while remaining aloof to the emotional needs of those around him, convincing himself of the correctness of his impulses before a willing camera, until of course he is left alone. Featuring a fine performance by Shelley Winters as a wealthy woman he seeks to court, ALFIE remains a darkly comic cautionary tale about the perils of a ladies’ man lifestyle.
