SPIN American Directions

A smart, affecting family drama based on the novel by Donald Everett Axinn, SPIN is” enriched by a running,commentary on anti-Mexican racism in 1950s America, and excellent acting from the entire ensemble.

This bittersweet coming-of-age tale reveals the emotional life of an orphaned boy overcoming the loss of his parents through his passion for flying and his love for a local Mexican-American girl.

The film features earnest and engaging performances from the entire cost: Ryan Merriman and Paulo Garces as the teenage couple, Stanley Tucci as the Boy’s emotionolly distant but loving uncle, and Dana Delany and Ruben Blades as the uncle’s housekeepers, who end uprising his nephew as their own.
