INHERITANCE (ARVEN) European Showcase

What is the value of an inheritance that brings only heartbreak and pain? The second film in Per Fly’s trilogy depicting three layers of Danish society, INHERITANCE questions the price paid by the wealthy elite.

Christoffer enjoys the good life in Sweden as the owner of a successful restaurant and husband to an up-and-coming stage actress. The unexpected suicide of his father, however, thrusts him back into the pressure cooker he thought he ‘d escaped when he quit the family steel business. Reluctantly, he returns home to Denmark, where he finds he must take desperate measures to rescue the company from bankruptcy. He is brought into heated conflict with relatives and constantly clashes with his increasingly unhappy wife.

Using the same methods he developed in his critically acclaimed and award-winning THE BENCH, Fly did extensive research and performed character improvisations with the cast. The result is an unusually focused drama that should make anyone wary of receiving an inheritance.
