NOI ALBINOI European Showcase

Presenting a close up view of a strange teenage boy in a remote Icelandic village, Dagur Kari’s stunning debut feature has garnered numerous awards worldwide for its masterful fusion of dry comedy, coming-of-age angst and earth shattering myth.

Noi lives with his grandmother, doesn’t do his homework, has a fort in the basement and the school shrink thinks he’s a genius. Bored with life, Noi spends his time rigging slot machines-so he can buy beer-watching TV and hanging out in the town bookstore. When a pretty girl named Iris arrives to work in the local gas station, dreams of love and escape arise in his heart with monumental force. This Jarmusch influenced character piece peers into the mysteries of life with a sense of pure delight . Writer/director Kari also scored the film with resonant minimalist music that melds with the icy color palette to create an astonishing tone that builds to a climax mixing tragedy with the sublime.

NOI ALBINOI is a movie from a snow -covered landscape about a misfit teenager that will make you rethink your life.
