BUDDY International Feature Competition

Deftly blending hilarious pranks, bright pop music and touching drama, this Norwegian take on the classic romantic comedy follows best pals Kristoffer and Geir, who videotape their skatepunk antics and paste up billboards for a living.

Kristoffer and Geir move in with Stig Inge who hasn’t gone outside his self-contained apartment complex in two years. Unwilling to accept a key to her apartment, Kristoffer loses his corporate girlfriend, Elisabeth, just as cute hippie chick Henriette moves in with them, sending sparks his way. Further complications arise when Kristoffer and Geir’s video diary pranks start to air as a segment on a national talk show, gaining them both minor celebrity status and opening the doors of self-examination. The center of the film’s success lies in the spot-on performances of the incredible young Norwegian cast whose fresh vibrancy leaps across the language barrier, trips over the funny bone and lands in the heart.

Watching the magnificent cast explore the true meaning of friendship in this Nordic treat makes mental illness, denial and betrayal seem like fun again.
