THE MIRACLE OF BERN Made in Germany

Principally following a young boy named Mattias, this masterful period piece intertwines an ensemble of stories around the surprise German victory in the 1954 World Cup that helped revive the spirits of those who suffered during WWII.

After The Boss leaves to begin training for the World Cup, Mattias’ father returns home from a prisoner of war camp a shattered man. After 11 years at war, he has never even met his youngest son Mattias, and can’t manage to hold his family together. But the underdog soccer team offers a ray of hope filtering through the dark clouds hovering over post war Germany, strong enough to begin lo heal Mattias’ broken family and the shame of an entire nation.

Focusing on German citizens who were against the Nazi party and suffered heavily from the war, this tapestry depicts the hopes and hardships of a whole society and weaves joyful comedy with hard-hitting drama and true inspiration.
