HOTEL RWANDA Special Screenings

Winner of the People’s Choice Award at the 2004 ‘Toronto International Film Festival, HOTEL RWANDA is the story of one of those rare iconic individuals who perform unassuming, selfless acts of heroism during mankind’s darkest hours.

Ten years ago, as the country of Rwanda descended into madness, one man made a promise to protect the family he laved-and ended up finding the courage to save over 1200 people. HOTEL RWANDA tells the inspiring, deeply moving story of real-life hero Paul Rusesabagina (Don Cheadle), a hotel manager in Rwanda who secretly used his position and intelligence to shelter over 1,000 refugees during the genocide crisis. While the rest of the world closed its eyes, Paul opened his heart to prove how love can make us stronger than we’d ever imagine.

The real Paul Rusesabagina served as special consultant on the film. Don Cheadle, capturing his calm heroism, is joined by the luminescent Sophie Okonedo (DIRT Y PRETTY THINGS) and Nick Nolte, as the frustrated head of the almost non-existent UN peacekeeping force. Director Terry George is firmly at the helm of an exacting film that unfolds with sharp insight and dramatic flair.
