NEXT DOOR (NABOER) European Film Showcase

Norwegian writer/director Pal Sletaune (JUNK MAIL) cites Alfred Hitchcock as his greatest influence, and this gripping and involving psychosexual tale would no doubt please the master of suspense.

Breaking up is hard to do as John finds out when he’s dumped by his already on-to-the-next-guy girlfriend Ingrid. Meek and vulnerable, John is set upon by girls-next-door, Anne and Kim, who lure him into an increasingly dangerous series of mind games.

While Sletaune inspired himself on-set by playing the PSYCHO soundtrack, this is more reminiscent of Hitchcock’s VERTIGO in its blurring of reality, the less said the better about the plot twists and didn’t-see-that-coming ending. Catch it if you can.
