7 VIRGINS (7 VIRGENES) International Feature Competition

Tano, a young teenager from Seville, is given a 48-hour leave from juvenile detention to attend his older brother’s wedding. Tano has to kill time and stay out of trouble. Impossible.

Tano (Juan Jose Ballesta) immediately hooks up with his best friend Richi (Jesus Carroza), a petty thief and smalltime thug. The two of them are cut from the same cloth, but, unlike Tano, Richi’s conscious is out of commission. The two boys embark on a 48-hour binge of drinking, drugs and sex, broken up by bouts of brutal violence and thievery. These young boys with big dreams, sadly, know enough about the world to know that their dreams will never be realized.

“7 Virgins” is a game. You stand in the dark, with a candle, before a mirror, count to 60 and then wait for your reflection to tell you your future. Tano doesn’t play it, he already knows that life is short and fast.
