WILD RIVER Special Screenings

remarkable 1960s drama starring Montgomery Clift and lee Remick, the rarely seen WILD RIVER has been gorgeously re-mastered in its original widescreen glory, and is finally coming to DVD early next year courtesy of Fox DVD.

Set during the New Deal, this ahead-of-its-time film concerns the controlled flooding of the Tennessee River by the newly established Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), and the relocation of its residents, in particular one salty old lady (brilliantly played by Jo Van Fleet) who refuses to leave. Montgomery Clift plays a newly minted and well-pressed TVA agent sent from Washington, DC, to convince her and her family to leave the island in the Tennessee River, where they have lived for generations.

Renowned film critic and film commentator Richard Schickel will introduce the film, conduct a Q&A session following the film and will also be on hand to sign his latest book, Elia Kazan: A Biography, which will be in stores this fall.
