1000 JOURNALS International Documentary Competition

Like a modern day message in a bottle, “Someguy” from San Francisco sent 1000 journals out into the world. Offering them via his Web site, leaving them on park benches and restrooms or just handing them to strangers, they began a world tour. With the return of completed journal #526 , the question became , what happened to the rest? Andrea Kreuzhage’s 1000 JOURNALS is that story. Each journal returned, hand-stamped and numbered, bears the tale of its journey: doodles, photographs , artwork, poems and personal accounts from those who found them and passed them on. Traveling all over the world to find the remaining journals, Kreuzhage embarks on a whimsical adventure to meet the unique people who contributed, and who can point her to the journals’ final hiding places. An entertaining and powerful film about what you leave behind, 1000 JOURNALS is a truly inspiring global art project that continues today.
