The Ugandan visual arts collective Yes! That’s Us. takes on filmmaking, blasting the screen with sure-footed confidence. In this compelling tale of friendship and ambition, Kapo , Bona, Kanyankole and Mulokole are four aspiring musicians who have been offered a performance slot at a pub in the city that is starting open-mic sessions. Kapo quits his job and raises money to record himself and his friends performing, and for fare to the city. But before they can get there, they are ambushed by tax enforcement officers-just one of the obstacles that test their friendship and the strength of their mission. In a seamless flow of kinetic energy, DIVIZIONZ weaves together day-in-the-life footage with strong performances from the collective, and the result is a vibrant, immediate film. It stars musical artists Kyagulanyi “Bobi Wine ” Ssentamu, Bugembe “Buchaman” Mark , Catherine “Scarlet” Nakyanzi and Olem “Lot” Bonny, who , along with Peter Miles, Jaqee, Benon, Crystal Fabulous, Akiiki Romeo, Thornhead and Shada Band, infuse the film with the musical energy that’s thriving throughout urban Africa DIVIZIONZ is an evocative and riveting mosaic of modern Ugandan life.
