LIFE OF PI Galas

Director Ang Lee (BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN; CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON) presents a groundbreaking movie about a young man who survives a disaster at sea. While marooned on a lifeboat, he forms a stunning and unexpected connection with the ship’s only other survivor – a fearsome Bengal tiger.

Born in Taiwan in 1954, filmmaker Ang Lee is the first Asian American to win an Academy Award for Best Director (for BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN in 2005). Among his other films, EAT DRINK MAN WOMAN; SENSE AND SENSIBILITY; and CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON (AFI FEST 2001 Tribute), which won the Oscar® for Best Foreign Language Film in 2000, have enhanced his reputation as a storyteller with an original and compelling visual style.
