They were the highest paid act in vaudeville. They sang, danced, played musical instruments, and were as close as any two sisters. America’s sweethearts in the ‘30s and ‘40s, they were among the biggest celebrities of their day. They were Siamese Twins – Daisy and Violet Hilton.  Their English mother sold them to her midwife in 1908 and their childhood was spent on display in pubs and wax museums, carnivals and fairs. They made great sums of cash – but never saw a dime. The “San Antonio Twins,” so named because they won their freedom in a sensational trial in that city, eventually knew romance, yet when Violet was denied a marriage license in dozens of states her fiancé vanished from her life. The girls starred in two films, FREAKS and CHAINED FOR LIFE.
