The brilliant and versatile Billy Wilder (1906-2002) began his film career in the late 1920s. He left Nazi Germany, arriving in Hollywood in1933 where he quickly mastered American slang. Among the classic films he wrote and directed are THE LOST WEEKEND, A FOREIGN AFFAIR, SUNSET BOULEVARD, THE SEVEN YEAR ITCH, SOME LIKE IT HOT and THE APARTMENT.
