ALLELUIA Midnight

Michel is a womanizing hustler who cons lonely women into giving him their life savings. He gets more than he bargained for when he meets Gloria, a single mother and nurse, who falls head over heels for him after their first encounter. When she learns of his true intentions, she demands to accompany and help him as he cons other women. While Michel works his charms on his next victim, Gloria’s jealousy rears its ugly head, sending them on a wild and deadly odyssey. Inspired by the true story of “The Lonely Hearts Killers,” Belgian director Fabrice Du Welz crafts a violent and frenetic tale of sex, lust and obsession that plays with genre conventions. What results is a film slick with saliva – and other bodily fluids – that dares you to get up close to the latent horrors of humanity.

Fabrice Du Welz’s first short film, WHEN YOU’RE IN LOVE, IT’S WONDERFUL, won the Grand Prix for Short Films at the 1999 Gérardmer Film Festival. His feature film CALVAIRE screened at the 2005 International Critics Week at Cannes, where it won the Special Jury Prize and the International Critics Award at Gérardmer.
