MERCHANTS OF DOUBT Special Screenings

Academy Award®-nominated director Robert Kenner (FOOD, INC.) tackles the ongoing “debate” over climate change in his latest documentary. Inspired by the acclaimed book by Naomi Oreskes and Erik Conway, MERCHANTS OF DOUBT focuses on a surreptitious group of PR masterminds, think tanks and spin doctors bought and paid for by some of the biggest corporations in the world. These so-called experts present themselves as voices of scientific authority, offering up opinions contrary to scientific consensus, but their real goal is to shift blame and delay governmental action on a wide number of issues, ranging from cigarettes to toxic chemicals and, of course, global warming. What results is a documentary that serves as a cautionary tale on how lies are crafted and sold to the public.

Robert Kenner was born in New Rochelle, New York. His debut feature documentary, FOOD, INC., was nominated for the Best Documentary Oscar® in 2010, as well as a DGA Award. He has also directed four films for PBS’ THE AMERICAN EXPERIENCE.
