“Mommy” is a television personality and the mother of rambunctious twin boys. After an extensive trip to the plastic surgeon, she returns to the family’s idyllic country home, face swaddled and entirely masked in bandages, to recover and recuperate. But Mommy begins to act strangely. Hardly recognizing this scary, bandaged creature that claims to be their mother, the boys soon are convinced that someone or something has subsumed Mommy’s identity in an attempt to steal her family. Mommy, however, maintains that she’s the same. And so a power struggle to unearth her real identity takes over the house, expertly ramping up from unsettling to harrowing.
