REALITY (RÉALITÉ) World Cinema

Quentin Dupieux, director of such singular films as RUBBER and WRONG, returns to AFI FEST with REALITY, a bizarre tapestry of the absurd. In this world of dream logic, a cameraman gets to direct his first film, but the executive who green lights the project has one condition: the scream in the film must win the Oscar® for Best Scream. That same executive is watching dailies from a documentary about a little girl named Reality, who finds a VHS tape inside the body of a warthog. The contents of the tape begin to warp the time and space of everything around it. Meanwhile, Jon Heder has an insatiable itching while hosting a culinary show. A cinematic attack on the inside of your head, REALITY is a strange mix of the surreal, the unsettling and the hilarious.

French filmmaker Quentin Dupieux made the medium-length film NONFILM in 2002, followed in 2007 by STEAK, his first feature. His next three films, RUBBER (AFI FEST 2010), WRONG (AFI FEST 2012) and WRONG COPS, screened at the Locarno International Film Festival. Dupieux also has released several albums under the name Mr. Oizo.
