JIM & ANDY: THE GREAT BEYOND – FEATURING A VERY SPECIAL, CONTRACTUALLY OBLIGATED MENTION OF TONY CLIFTON Special Screenings

In 1999, a documentary crew filmed Jim Carrey behind the scenes during the making of MAN ON THE MOON, in which he played legendary comedian Andy Kaufman. As Carrey immersed himself in the role of Kaufman — and, periodically, Kaufman’s paunchy alter-ego Tony Clifton — he went deep down the Method-acting rabbit hole, rarely breaking character. This was much to the delight, bemusement, frustration and, occasionally, rage of his co-workers. In JIM & ANDY: THE GREAT BEYOND, Carrey sits down for an extensive interview to discuss this never-before-seen footage. As wise and existentially probing in real life as he is energetic and elastic-faced in character, Carrey makes the perfect subject for a doc — and a doc within a doc — as he weighs in with astute observations about fame, comedy and the risk of losing oneself in work. – Beth Hanna
