Yann Gonzalez was born in 1977 in Nice. He directed primarily short films before his feature debut, YOU AND THE NIGHT (2013). KNIFE + HEART is his sophomore feature. Both films premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. His short film, ISLANDS, played AFI FEST 2017.
