Alain and Selena (Guillaume Canet and Juliette Binoche) are an affluent Parisian couple in a seemingly content marriage; he’s the head of a prestigious publishing imprint, and she’s an actress in a weekly crime drama. As Alain attempts to navigate the terrain of his swiftly evolving industry — that’s been turned on its head thanks to social media, Kindles and distracted millennials — he has to let go of a novelist he’s worked with many times before, the disheveled and insecure Léonard (Vincent Macaigne). This sets the stage for Olivier Assayas’ latest, a delightful, easygoing comedy set within an uncertain world where everything seems to be changing — even as the likelihood of marital infidelity remains ever the same.
