BABYTEETH New Auteurs

BABYTEETH

Much to her parents’ dismay, 15-year-old Milla falls for Moses, a quirky, smalltime drug dealer at a train station. Their relationship blooms quickly despite Milla’s rapid decline in health, igniting in her a new fervor for life. Milla continues loving with reckless abandon and fearlessly pushes the boundaries of the people in her life, including her parents, music teacher and neighbors.

Director Shannon Murphy storms onto the scene with a dynamic and effortless debut feature, fresh off its Venice Film Festival premiere. Eliza Scanlen (SHARP OBJECTS) gives a breakout performance as Milla, while Ben Mendelsohn and Essie Davis create stellar, layered portrayals of her parents navigating the chaos. Raw and disarmingly honest, BABYTEETH is a beautiful tale of the complexities of facing one’s mortality.  –Sarah Harris
