North American Premiere

Talent attending: Robin Moran (Producer), Edwin Nazir (Producer), Yosep Anggi Noen (Director)

Indonesia, 1960s. Siman, a solitary farmer, unintentionally witnesses a foreign crew filming a fake moon landing in a dark field. Discovered, he’s punished by having his tongue cut off, forcing him into silence. After this nightmarish event, Siman moves through life in slow-motion, imitating astronauts. The truth weighs heavily on his shoulders as villagers brand him insane.

Fresh from its world premiere at Locarno, THE SCIENCE OF FICTIONS is a daring and hypnotic drama exploring the mysterious, bloody political conflict of Indonesia’s history. Beautifully composed cinematography creates an ambitious meditation on power and truth in this unique cinematic experience from filmmaker Yosep Anggi Noen. –Sarah Harris
