BLACKBIRD Special Screenings

Talent attending: David Bernardi (Distributor), Sherryl Clark (Producer)

Battling a terminal illness, Lily (Susan Sarandon) has decided to end her life on her own terms. Lily and her husband (Sam Neill) request their loved ones come to their seaside home for a final weekend together. Their daughters (Kate Winslet and Mia Wasikowska) arrive with their own families and emotional baggage in tow. What begins as a peaceful gathering unravels as secrets and unresolved family conflicts are exposed.

Based on the Danish film SILENT HEART, BLACKBIRD gracefully explores the complex heartbreak, humor and humanity of death. A stellar ensemble cast and delicate direction from Roger Michell create a thoughtful, elegant portrait of the preciousness of life and family. –Sarah Harris
