CORPUS CHRISTI (BOŻE CIAŁO)

POLAND OFFICIAL INTERNATIONAL FEATURE FILM OSCAR® SUBMISSION

Talent attending: Jan Komasa (Director), Piotr Sobociński (Director of Photography)

After he is released from a brutally violent juvenile detention center, Daniel disguises himself as a priest and hides out in a dysfunctional small town. Reeling from a recent series of horrific deaths, the townspeople welcome Daniel, who makes himself indispensable to them as a man of faith.  Inhabiting this cloth, Daniel struggles to uphold the faith in a town that is spiritually broken. He manages to elude notice until unexpected obstacles begin to appear on the community’s path to redemption. A fascinating exploration of faith and forgiveness, CORPUS CHRISTI is a modern Polish parable with an unforgettable lead performance from newcomer Bartosz Bielenia. –Lane Kneedler
