LUXOR New Auteurs

LUXOR

Following the film, AFI FEST Director of Programming Sarah Harris leads a conversation between filmmaker Zeina Durra and actors Andrea Risenborough and Karim Saleh.

British aid worker Hana arrives in the ancient city of Luxor, Egypt, seeking solace and rest after working on the harrowing Syrian border. Hana wanders through the sights and sounds of this majestic place, recalling a time when she lived in Luxor as a young adult. During one such day trip, she runs into Sultan, a charming archeologist and former lover. Haunted by her past trauma, Hana moves through Luxor on an introspective and nostalgic journey. With her second feature film, writer/director Zeina Durra creates a powerful and elegant meditation on choices and hope. –Sarah Harris
