CORRESPONDENCIA

Following the program, AFI Festivals Programmer Eric Moore leads a conversation between filmmakers Jamil McGinnis and Pat Heywood (GRAMERCY), Helki Frantzen (L.A. ROLL), Carla Simón and Dominga Sotomayor (CORRESPONDENCIA), Santiago Barzi (CHINESE WALL).

Two young filmmakers discuss the present and past, family, heritage, maternity and cinema. Their personal and profound reflections are suddenly echoed by the political turmoil of a country.

Carla Simón (Barcelona, 1986) studied at the University Autonomous of Barcelona and the University of California. She was awarded a scholarship to an MA program at the London Film School. SUMMER 1993, her autobiographical debut, premiered at the Berlinale 2017 where it won the Best First Film Award.

Dominga Sotomayor (Santiago, 1985) debuted in feature films with THURSDAY TILL SUNDAY, 2012. She made history at the Locarno Film Festival in 2018 becoming the first woman to win the Golden Leopard Award for Best Direction for her film TOO LATE TO DIE YOUNG.
